You sure know how to pick em’. I love the idea of the assignment. There is so much that we see everyday that we become blind to because it becomes the norm. It took me almost the entire week to focus in on something. I know we were supposed to pick something within the 36 hours of last class, but I didn’t find anything really inspiring.
I drive. I drive a lot. I drive around 100 miles a day. When I first started driving, I really hated it. I felt like I was wasting a lot of time, but as I got used to it, I figured that I got more done on the drive then I did in my office at work or at home. I have all this “me” time. This is where I get all of my planning done. This is why I think it took me a few days to find something noticeable. I am programmed to focus on the road and everything else kind of fades out.
One thing I did notice is all of the graffiti around the highways and interstates of Indianapolis. It is never a lot, just a little touch here and a little touch there. In the back of my mind I thought it was strange that it wasn’t more. I mean, if you’re going to go through the trouble of climbing up there, you would think it would be more that just a name.
We have been planning to decorate our computer room for a while now. It is pretty plain. When you walk in, it is nothing put LCD screens and white walls. A friend of mine just graduated from art school in Savannah and really wants to do something with it. He told me to give them a theme or a direction and he would do the rest. We got together this weekend, and I told him I was struggling with this assignment. He came up with the idea of doing a subtle graffiti look in the room.
We are still working out the details and I want to have it completed before the end of the semester. But this is what we have so far.
To be continued…..
